North West Durham League

Bill O'Connell was part of the Consett Park team that won the North West Durham Bowls League Midweek League in 1962.  There is a photograph of the champions in the History section.

The William O'Connell Cup

The William O'Connell Cup was donated to the Club by Bill.  His granddaughter Susan travelled with Bill to Newcastle when he bought the Cup.

In 2023, the Club's centenary year, the Cup was brought out of retirement, and competed for in a game between Consett Park Bowling Club and Darlington South Park Bowling Club.  Consett Park won the match and the Cup was presented to Consett Park's president, Jim Ruddick, by Susan.
