They are host to county teamConsett Works played host to the Yorkshire and Durham bowls teams when they played in the Middleton Cup on Consett Bowling Club's green recently. Mr R. Armstrong * (left) steelplant manager, and president of the bowls club, welcomed the sides.In the Yorkshire team were Phil Welch, mills engineer, Cleveland, Peter Richardson, steel sales department, Lackenby, Malcolm Cullingworth, engineering technical services, Lackenby, and H. Earl, of Teesdale Engineering Works. Mr Welch is junior vice-president of Yorkshire.The Durham president is Bill Vince (centre) retired assistant controller, stores control, Consett works, and the Yorkshire president is Mr Rowland Tindall (right). Yorkshire won 135 to 103 and are now joint favourites. They next play Northumberland, and the winners go forward to the national quarter-finals. Yorkshire had previously beaten Cumberland and Lancashire.
