Opening of the Green

On 18th April 1927, the Newcastle Journal and North Star reported on the Club's opening game of the season

BOWLS.CONSETT PARK CLUB’S OPENING.The bowling greens of the Consett Park Club were opened on Saturday afternoon by Mr E.J. George, general manager of the Consett Iron Co., in the presence of a large company. A game followed between teams selected by Mr George (president) and Mr Ralph Alsop (chairman) which was keenly contested, Mr George’s team winning by a single point - 76 to 75.Afterwards the players were entertained to tea by the Consett Iron Co., and Mr George responded to a vote of thanks moved by Councillor W. D. Reed.
