Jubilee year gift of trophyMR EDDIE Marshall, a mill cost clerk at Consett, has been secretary of the Consett Park Bowling Club for the past six years and most of his fellow bowlers are employees or retired employees from the Consett Works.The club has several handsome trophies, however, next season Eddie and his bowling colleagues will have a new American sponsored trophy to play for.During the summer months, they welcomed estate agent, Mr Dick Richards and his family, who become so engrossed in the game, that Mr Richards decided to show his tangible appreciation to the club by presenting a shield which is to be known as the "Leesburg, Virginia Shield U.S.A.""The first competition for the trophy is to be played next year, which fittingly coincides with the club's golden jubilee year." said Mr Marshall, who is showing the shield to his fellow bowlers.
