Teresa Pearson - Winner of the Bowls England Women's National 55 and Over Singles Competition 

On 30th July, 2009 Teresa Pearson, representing Consett Park Bowling Club, won the Bowls England Women's National 55 and Over Singles Competition at Royal Leamington Spa.

Teresa beat Ms Andrea Dickenson from Brantham Athletic Bowling Club, Suffolk, in the final, winning the game 21-20.

The Road to the Final 

Teresa qualified for the national singles by taking the Durham title at Hartlepool, in June.

At Royal Leamington Spa, the results were as follows, with Teresa representing Durham.

Chairman's Medal

In recognition of this achievement, Teresa was awarded the Chairman's Medal, Durham County Council's highest award.

The Durham County News reported that the Chairman of the County Council, Cllr Brian Myers was more than happy to award the Chairman's Medal to Teresa, saying "Teresa has won a national title against some very strong opposition and has shown what a good club they have in Consett. I hope her story encourages everyone,  no matter their age or sport, to do the best they can."
