G.J. Macfadzean
G.J. Macfadzean was one of the original committee members of Consett Park Bowling Club, being nominated by Consett Iron Company.
He was responsible for the design of the Club's badge. The extract below is from the 1927 Annual Report, as reported by the Consett Guardian.
An important step was taken this season when it was decided to adopt club colours. After careful consideration navy blue blazers with blue cord binding and badge where chosen. Your committee hope that an increasing number of members will purchase them. The best thanks of the club are due to Mr. Macfadzean for the trouble he so kindly took in designing the badge.
Do you know any more about Mr Macfadzean? We believe his full name was George James Macfadzean, and that he was was coke-oven byproducts manager at Consett Iron Company prior to his retirement, and that he died in December 1945, aged 76.
